Goal
A part-time for-pay or volunteer position in which I can contribute to my employer's goals by utilizing my skills, knowledge, education,
and past experiences to the maximum extent possible and which will be
enjoyable. (Note: This does not have to be an RV, camper, or vacation related
position.)
Available for service beginning May, 2012.
Competencies
- Understand and repair mechanical, electrical, and

- Computers (user classes, problem resolution, basic operation through web site design and launch)

airplanes!)

I have interest and knowledge in the following areas and could give presentations

- Local geology, wildlife, plants, (after a bit of training
and study)
- Astronomy (can supply NexStar 80 computer-guided telescope)
- Kites (building or flying, including stunt flying)

- Computer (basic use, classes, problem resolution, Internet, website development)
- Sport aviation (homebuilt aircraft, EAA, "Oshkosh")

Workamping Experience
Wales West RV Resort & Light Railway, Silverhill, AL (November and December, 2011) (I characterize this resort as a mini theme park based on railroads.)
- Fabricated parts for steam engine grate in machine shop
- Determined parts needed and replaced muffler on diesel-powered track hoe
- Performed daily inspection and preventative maintenance on gasoline-engine-powered 7.5-inch gauge railway
- Served as engineer and conductor on above train
- Helped manage groups of up to 200 elementary school children as they visited various areas of the park and road the trains
- Served as platform guard to maintain orderliness and efficiently load and unload over a thousand guests in one day
- My wife helped decorate for Christmas and served as refreshment room host and server.
- Invited to return
Garrison Dam National Fish Hatchery, Riverdale, ND (June and July, 2006)
- Guided visitors on tours of the hatchery
- Performed trail and bridge maintenance using "Mule," hand tools, and Bobcat skid-steering loader
- Performed minor repairs
- Assisted biologists with the hatching and rearing process
- Mowed lawn
- Made runs to the Post Office
- Reported time as required

Imperial National Wildlife Refuge, Yuma, AZ (January through March, 2005)
- Helped maintain and improve the Refuge through various projects using power and hand
woodworking and mechanic's tools and operating heavy equipment
- Selected projects, defined by staff, compatible with my interests and capabilities
- Established priorities and worked independently
- Determined, specified, and requested materials required
- Reported time as required
- Greeted and assisted visitors at the Visitor's Center
- Lead and interpreted hikes on desert trails

Lakeside Village Mobilehome
and RV Park, DeLand, FL (Dec, 2001, through March, 2002)
- Maintained and repaired electric, water, and sewer (septic
tank) systems as required in a 52 site commercial park
- Established own work priorities
- Selected and purchased needed supplies, repair parts,
and tools
- Greeted park visitors and provided park info
- Assisted new arrivals in finding site, parking rig,
arranging mail, etc.
- Maintained lawn and landscaping
- Selected and directed
the work activities of service suppliers (tree service, plumbing, and septic
tank)

Toro County Park,
Salinas, CA, (Monterey County) a day-use park (Jan-Mar, 2001)

Preferred Conditions
- Full hook up (water, electric, sewer) site supplied, or sufficient pay to
rent same.(Have 35' fifth-wheel trailer with three slide-outs.)
- Winter temperature highs in 60s and 70s (warmer is not better!), and infrequent
lows not lower than 26.
- Availability of wi-fi (preferred!) or other means of frequently connecting to the Internet.
- Availability: As agreed
- Opportunity to work or play on the water would be a plus.
- Camp Host position would be of great interest.
- Operating or working with machines (the bigger the better!) or helping with
computers or any form of website work would also be of interest.
- Variety of duties and tasks, the more unusual the better. (Don't be
afraid to ask; I love learning and adventure!)
- Volunteer position in a not-for-profit setting preferred to commercial operation, but will consider all opportunities to serve.
Comments
- Will be accompanied by my wife. She doesn't share my enthusiasm for "work" but is available for occasional light hosting, office work, store operations, flower tending, greeting people, etc.
- We are honest, punctual, reliable, non-smokers, and
might have a glass of wine with dinner.
